Celebrating the first season of Camarada in residence at SDMA and inspired by the Museum’s renowned collection of German Expressionism, Camarada presents an original concert exploring one of the twentieth century’s most revolutionary artistic movements. Love, Light and Longing brings audiences on a musical journey from Bach’s baroque world to early twentieth-century expressionism, exploring the very human themes of love and yearning that echo through the ages. Presented inside the Museum rotunda, the performance demonstrates how music can deepen our understanding of the permanent collection while embodying the vision of Museum as a Stage.

Museum as a Stage is The San Diego Museum of Art’s performing arts initiative, created to reconnect the performing and visual artistic traditions and expand the ways audiences experience art. Rather than presenting performances only alongside exhibitions, the program invites artists to create in direct conversation with the Museum’s collection, exhibitions, architecture, and public spaces.
Experience a full season of music, dance, theater, and family programming with Museum as a Stage at The San Diego Museum of Art.
