Celebrating the first season of Camarada in residence at SDMA, Poéticas del Arrabal: Opera and Tango transforms the SDMA rotunda into an intimate concert hall where music and visual art resonate together.
Poéticas del Arrabal: Opera and Tango explores the expressive world of tango through the music of Astor Piazzolla in arrangements by Andrés Martín. Performed by the Camarada Tango Quartet, together with singers Gabriela Bojórquez and Martín de León, the program brings together the intimacy of chamber music, the dramatic language of opera, and the distinctive voice of tango.
More than a concert, the evening explores memory through one of the world’s most expressive musical traditions, inviting audiences to experience longing, nostalgia, and human connection in dialogue with the Museum.

Museum as a Stage is The San Diego Museum of Art’s performing arts initiative, created to reconnect the performing and visual artistic traditions and expand the ways audiences experience art. Rather than presenting performances only alongside exhibitions, the program invites artists to create in direct conversation with the Museum’s collection, exhibitions, architecture, and public spaces.
Experience a full season of music, dance, theater, and family programming with Museum as a Stage at The San Diego Museum of Art.
