Different Colorful Designs (2011-16) is a short experimental film by Sindhu Thirumalaisamy (MFA student – UCSD Visual Arts).
The film examines the mural paintings on the walls of the South Indian city, Bangalore. In 2010 the city implemented the “Bangalore Beautification” project to discourage vandalization of public areas and this became the most extensive display of art across the city, representing familiar symbols from history and modern high tech aspirations along with myths. Sindhu talks about the stories in these murals, followed by a discussion after the screening (runtime 15 mins) of the film .
