Museum Art School (Meet at the Museum)
Create your own constructive composition, layering the figurative and the abstract. Explore the balance of nature and reason found in the work of Joaquín Torres-García using a variety of materials including acrylic paint, canvas, and modeling paste. Attendees will enjoy a docent-led museum tour, and experiment with a variety of surface texture and patina methods to construct symbolic relief compositions inspired by the golden ratio divisions and pictographic symbols seen within Torres-García’s work. The workshop begins with an exclusive, before-hours tour of the exhibition Modern Masters from Latin America: The Peréz Simón Collection. Participants will then be led through a hands-on workshop by Museum Educator Alyson Blum.
