Virtual Event
The event on Thursday, August 26 at 6:00p.m. will be a virtual Zoom presentation and discussion by Dr. Michael Brown about the film. We encourage viewers to watch the film at their leisure before the event takes place.
Canaletto and the Art of Venice is an immersive journey into the life and art of Venice’s famous view-painter, whose work is featured in the Museum’s exhibition Cranach to Canaletto: Masterpieces from the Bemberg Foundation. The film features a remarkable group of over 200 paintings, drawings, and prints that offer unparalleled insight into the artistry of Canaletto and his contemporaries, and the city he became a master at capturing. Guided by Royal Collection Trust curators and the world’s leading experts in Venetian history, the 85-minute film is a wonderful way to get closer to Canaletto and the city that inspired him.
Participants will be given a private link to view Exhibition on Screen: Canaletto and the Art of Venice at their leisure, then will be invited to an exclusive live online event on Thursday, August 26 at 6:00p.m. with Michael Brown, the Museum’s Curator of European Art, for a discussion about Canaletto’s life, techniques, and the world in which he lived.
