8:00 p.m. Film
Presented as part of a film series of five films that bring to life characters, stories, issues, and themes portrayed or evoked in Modern Masters from Latin America: The Pérez Simón Collection.
Nostalgia for the Light is a compelling documentary that juxtaposes two seemingly different quests in Chile’s Atacama Desert. Filmmaker Patricio Guzmán features astronomers scanning the skies for new galaxies while at the same time the search continues for human remains, from pre-Columbian mummies to the bones of political prisoners who “disappeared” during the Pinochet dictatorship.
