From the Renaissance to Impressionism: Masterpieces from the San Diego Museum of Art tells a compelling story of the history of European art across five centuries through sixty-five works of art from the permanent collection of The San Diego Museum of Art. Most of these works have never traveled, and all of them are visiting Korea for the first time. The goal of the exhibition, and its accompanying catalogue, is that visitors will come away with a deeper appreciation of the richness of the Western art tradition, and experience art’s unique power to bring humanity together across cultural divides.
Featured at top right: Bernardino Luini, The Conversion of the Magdalene, ca. 1520. Oil on panel. Gift of Anne R. and Amy Putnam in memory of their sister, Irene, 1936.23.
