Intricately designed foliage—quite often emerging from water pots, conch shells, or the limbs of aquatic and mythical creatures including baby-like recumbent figures—is one of the most popular motifs in South Asian art. Distinguished scholar Dr. Gautama Vajracharya discusses the foliage motif and explains his view of its significance in light of recently found evidence.
