Join the Asian Arts Council and former SDMA Associate Curator of South Asian and Islamic Art, Marika Sardar Nickson, Ph.D., for an online lecture discussing Chinese porcelains found in the treasuries of the Mughal emperors of South Asia. In her lecture, Nickson will explore the characteristics and age of the porcelains collected, and place them in the larger context of the Mughals’ collections of objects from abroad.

Marika Sardar Nickson is an independent scholar who has held curatorial positions at the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto; the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha; The San Diego Museum of Art; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Her publications include: The Ramayana of Hamida Banu Begum, Queen Mother of Mughal India, Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, 2021; Epic Tales from Ancient India: Paintings from The San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of Art, 2016; Sultans of Deccan India 1500-1700: Opulence and Fantasy, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2015.
