Art of Élan returns for its 12th season at The San Diego Museum of Art. This kickoff concert acts as a journey through time and place, opening with Renaissance madrigals sung by members of Bach Collegium, followed by the short one-movement Quartettsatz by the beloved classical composer Franz Schubert. The journey continues with a musical tribute to Duke Ellington, providing both contrast and context for the colorful and haunting final work on the program, “The Consolation of Rain,” written by Art of Élan friend and famed contemporary composer, David Bruce.
This concert is inspired by the exhibition Javier Marín on view September 1, 2018 through March 3, 2019.
$40 member | $45 student, senior, military | $50 general admission
