An upcoming exhibition at the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA), Hinges: Sakaki Hyakusen and the Birth of Nanga Painting, is the first in the US to focus on this 18th century artist. BAMPFA’s Senior Curator for Asian Art, Julia M. White, speaks on the conservation of Hyakusen’s masterpiece, Mountain Landscape, and other aspects of the exhibition’s planning.
