Art of Elan’s 13th season of concerts at SDMA kicks off with a kaleidoscopic journey back to the music of the beloved Baroque composer, J. S. Bach in the Museum Rotunda. As part of the newly-launched “BaCH Initiative,” which moves the timeless Baroque music “Beyond a Concert Hall” and out into the world of the 21st century, Art of Élan will open this special concert with Bach’s second sonata for unaccompanied violin, followed by innovative works by contemporary composers Andy Akiho, David Lang, and Missy Mazzoli.
100 music students from Mira Mesa High School will perform works by Bach on the front steps of the Museum from 6:30–6:55 p.m. led by Matthew Mulvaney, Director of Orchestras, Mira Mesa High School.
