Family Programs

Discover the Museum through fun, educational activities for kids, teens, and families! For everyone from beginners to art experts, programs offer diverse opportunities for the whole family to view, understand, and interact with art on view.

Family Drop-In Days

Select Sundays* | 1:00–2:00 p.m.

Explore and learn more about the art in the Museum collection by participating in activities designed for families to enjoy together. Themes and projects change each month.

Recommended for families with children 6 to 12 years.

Free virtual program offered on Zoom platform. All participants will be sent log-in instructions prior to the event. Please RSVP to namaya@sdmart.org by the Friday before the event. Space is limited.

Free Museum Admission for Youth

One of the Museum’s primary goals is to make art accessible to the entire community. Starting in July 2016, the Museum began offering free admission to everyone 17 and under. We believe that eliminating the financial barrier to entry for youth is a great step in meeting this very important goal!

Family Workshops

Families are invited to participate together in art-making workshops at the Museum Art School. Preceded by a special before-hours tour of current exhibitions, workshops are geared toward intergenerational learning and creating in a classroom setting.

Workshop space is limited and registration is required.

SDMA at Play

The Museum Education team shares at-home activities for emerging and established art students of all ages as part of SDMA at Play.
