During the pottery wars between Korea and Japan in the 16th Century, Japan took Korean potters captive. They did not allow them to be repatriated, but used them to revolutionize pottery production in Japan. Their descendants live in Japan today, some still creating inspiring works in clay. Docent Allie Arnell will discuss the history and works.

Sponsored by the North County Chapter

*Please note that this lecture’s topic was originally “Cauleen Smith: Interdisciplinary Artist and Filmmaker” but has been changed to “Pottery Wars Between Korea and Japan.”
