Speaker: Roxana Velásquez, Maruja Baldwin Executive Director at The San Diego Museum of Art.


This lecture is presented as a part of the Guest Lecture & Tour series, which focuses on works of art on view in the Museum as well as topics of interest in the broader art world. Lectures are followed by docent-led tours.

All ticketed attendees are invited to join for coffee, tea, and pastries starting at 9:00 a.m. prior to the Docent Council’s September Guest Lecture & Tour on Friday, September 21st. Traditionally reserved for Circle members, the Museum is pleased to welcome all ticket holders to this special pre-lecture reception to mingle with the Museum curators and learn about the Museum’s membership programs. Following the reception, Roxana Velásquez, Executive Director will launch the series with her insights on Bouguereau’s Young Shepherdess and feminine archetypes in 19th century art.
