8:00 p.m.
James S. Copley Auditorium
The Museum offers the following film in connection with the exhibition Artists at War: American Posters of World War I.
Classic Hollywood stalwarts Errol Flynn, David Niven, and Basil Rathbone star as three British fighter pilots facing impossible odds and a series of increasingly dangerous aerial missions over war-torn France in the early years of World War I. Since its release, The Dawn Patrol (1938) has contributed greatly to the romanticized mythology and iconography of World War I—scarf-sporting fighter aces, thrilling aerial dogfights, the legend of the “Red Baron”—yet doesn’t shy away from depicting the emotional and mental toll of the war on those who fought it. 103 minutes, not rated.
$5 members and students | $7.50 seniors and military | $10 nonmembers
Enjoy free same day Museum admission from 5:00–8:00 p.m. offered during On the Steps at SDMA: A Veteran’s Day Event
