Dr. Tom Dillon, member of the Asian Arts Council Study Group and a retired SAIC executive will discuss Tang art and how its optimism, energy, and a frank acceptance of reality inform its painting, architecture, and decorative Arts. During the Tang Dynasty, an unusual hundred-year (665–766) “golden era,” the arts flourished, overseen by the only empress regnant in Chinese history, We Zhao, and her son, the Emperor Xuanzong.
